Pastor Cody Logan
Howdy Friends,
I am Cody Logan, the Planting Pastor of our new United Methodist Church here in the Texas Hill Country and greater Highland Lakes area. My journey to this role has been shaped by a deep love for God, a passion for building authentic community, and a calling to create a church that is both rooted in tradition and open to new ways of living out faith.
My Journey of Faith & Ministry
I grew up in Humble, Texas, a small town in the Houston area, and attended First United Methodist Church of Humble. But if I’m being honest, my faith didn’t truly come alive until I was a student at the University of Texas at Austin, where I studied philosophy and government.
Because of my debate experience and love of philosophy, I started my time at the Texas Wesley Foundation campus ministry more as a heckler than a participant. Telling my parents I was at a worship service on Thursday nights was a clever way to keep them from asking what I was doing the other six nights of the week. But in that space, I encountered something different—a community deeply filled with the Holy Spirit. I was loved into the church. No matter how much I resisted, the grace and love of Jesus that overflowed from that community melted my hardened heart.
That experience led me to seminary at Asbury Theological Seminary’s Orlando, Florida, campus, where I earned my Master’s in Divinity.
My Ministry Calling
My call into ministry was a shift from trying to fix the world on my own to sharing the freedom of my soul—the blessing I had received from God through the power of the Holy Spirit and the grace of Jesus. That’s at the heart of my approach to ministry.
If someone’s relationship with Christ is growing, I want to help them go deeper. If they’re not ready for that relationship yet, I still want to share the beauty of this world with them. And when I see brokenness in this world, I want to be part of the healing process. That’s my faith in a nutshell.
Ministry Experience
After seminary, I moved to the Buda/Kyle area outside of Austin, serving for four years as a Youth Director and Ministry Assistant at Journey United Methodist Church. Between 2018 and 2022, I was Pastor at First United Methodist Church of Seadrift, Texas. In 2022, I moved to Marble Falls and became Associate Pastor at First United Methodist Church of Marble Falls.
Then, on July 1, 2023, I was appointed as Pastor for a new UMC church plant in the Marble Falls area—a community built on love, grace, and a fresh approach to faith.
Who I Am Beyond the Pulpit
At my core, I experience life through music. Classical music and jazz are my passions. I’ve played guitar since I was young, but for me, it’s more of a personal act of worship than something I do in a church setting. Music is how I process life—its philosophical depths, its beauty, its ability to release steam from the soul.
And if you ever want to get me talking? Tell me your five desert island albums, and trust me—I’ll have thoughts.
Beyond music, I love surfing, hiking, and being out in creation. I also do woodworking and have a deep love for animals.
